VIDA, Volunteers for Intercultural & Definitive Adventures is a non-profit organization based in Costa Rica and the USA. Association VIDA provides free basic health, dental, and veterinary care to needy communities in Panama, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. VIDA also provides a unique hands-on volunteer experience for those interested in the field of medicine.
Typically our clients are pre-med or medical students as well as dental and veterinary students who are very interested in gaining hands on experience in medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine.
VIDA organizes mobile medical clinics with local host country physicians and community leaders in needy and remote communities. VIDA teams typically travel for 2 weeks at a time providing basic medical care and medicines to local people.
Students work side by side local host country physicians to learn about tropical medicine and other common ailments including upper respiratory illnesses, gastro-intestinal illnesses, parasitic infections, muscle-skeletal issues, etc.
Students and staff marvel at this amazing humanitarian learning experience!
VIDA accepts donations of used portable dental equipment, clothing/household items, and non-expired medications. Please see our website for further details regarding how to donate to VIDA and help underpriveleged Central Americans.
